Inadvertant loss of trust - How to regain? 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I love a woman, but she doesn't love me back. At first, this was a big issue for me, but I have come to terms with that. She views me as a friend, and I was satisfied with that. However.
We are both in the army, and she is in a very unsuccessful and damaged marriage. She is getting a divorce, but since she is still married, we need to be careful about how we present ourselves to others in our respective units, as there are legal consequences for infidelity in the army. I have always understood her concern on this issue, especially since, as the technically married one, she stands to lose more than I do should our activities be discovered.(we were spending a lot of time together, and having sex) I completely agreed with her on this, and there were no problems at all.

However, due to certain stresses I have been under, I recently started seeing an army psycologist, and one of the things we discussed was my love for her, and the pain I deal with from her lack of reciprocation. As I said before, I have come to terms with the fact that she doesn't love me, but it still hurts.

I told her what I was discussing with my therapist, and she now feels that I have violated her trust by discussing our relationship with someone, especially an officer(all mental health providers in the army are officers or cvilians). I did not realize that she would have an issue with me discussing that with my therapist, as even army therapists have to abide by doctor patient confidentiality rules. Now, she hardly talks to me at all, and we hardly spend any time together now.

I would never knowingly do anything to hurt her. I would die to make her happy. I miss her, and I really need to know if there is a way I can show her that she can trust me. Can anyone help me?

I dont want to say anything to hurt you anymore than you are but why do you try so hard when she doesnt have the same feelings for you? Why dont you move on and find someone that can love you back, someone that can appreciate you for who you are? I know its hard to move on but everyone deserves to be loved, you shouldnt have to be with someone that cant return the feelings.

I wish you all the luck but its best for you to just move on.

If your going to love someone you have to love all of them, the good, the bad, and even the ugly!

I HAVE moved on. Or at least sideways a little bet. I have come to terms with the fact that she doesn't feel the same way about me. But, she does say she wants to be my friend. I want to have whatever kind of relationship with her that she feels comfortable with. The issue is not that she doesn't love me. It's that before, she trusted me, and now she doesn't.
