I just found out something that I thought might help some people who are scouring their mates cell phones looking for clues as to who they are calling. You may notice that sometimes there may be numbers coming through that show up as UNKNOWN. Now, this doesn't work for all cell phone providers, I only know it works for Verizon. Cingular - NO. But if you have a verizon regular bill cell phone account and the phone number shows up as unknown, the company does, in fact, have the real number that called you, even if it is unpublished...even if the caller blocks their number to call. Cingular does not have this technology, yet. I'm sure they will change the way they monitor cell phone service to keep up with the competition, but as of right now they don't. Verizon does.
So what I'm saying is, if you need to find out who is calling you and blocking their number on your cell phone (or spouses cell phone) Verizon DOES have the number. They may give you the run around and say they do not...that is not true...they do for a fact. I think if you ask, no insists, that you speak to someone in customer service, perhaps a tier II tech, and tell them that you are getting harassing calls, note the times, etc., they can give you the number, but you have to be persistent. They may tell you they cannot do that...it is not true...they can. I can't say how I know this, but it is the truth.
Thought this might help anyone trying to figure out who UNKNOWN is. M
